Danny & I took a weekend cruise from Friday, the 13th thru Monday the 16th of October to Ensanda and back. Late on the second night, after a full night of heated gambling, we decided to take in some fresh air and check out the rest of the ship...
We were in such a good mood . It was a beautiful walk along the outside of the ship. He took me all the way to the front (just like in the movie Titanic) He was standing behind me with his arms wrapped closely around me to keep warm. It was so peaceful there overlooking the ocean. There was nothing on my mind except that I loved that we were there. It felt as if we were in our own little world. :) The moon was high, and there were some scattered clouds moving swiftly above us. The stars shone brightly piercing through them.
Danny was sweet to me. He began verbalizing what was on both our minds. I didn't need to say anything back. I just held him closer, closed my eyes and allowed his soft words to sink in deep. Mind you, Danny has always had a way of melting me with his words, but THIS time he kept saying things like, "I get to keep you for LIFE, right?" and "I'm gonna love you for the rest of our LIVES" :) It was so sweet. And I was still oblivious as to the set up. His words just took me even more and more into my peaceful, happy state that I was already in.
But THEN, with one arm around my waist and his other arm pointing out to the ocean he opened his pointing hand and gave me my first glimpse of the box. THEE box! :) It was a pretty white leather box that by itself seemed bright in the dark night air. It didn't register at first. I was completely in shock. So much so, that I could just gasp and stare at it. With my mouth agape, I couldn't even move to open it. He had to open it for me. And when he did.... oh my god. It had this little light on the top of the inside of the box, so when it opened, all I saw were these beautiful sparkles of a diamond backlit with an ocean behind it. It had a band that seemed to glitter almost as much as the ring. It was sooooo beautiful.
That was when it finally hit me and I realized what was happening. I started crying almost immediately. Danny turned me around to face him, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. My own knees were so weak though, that before I could even say "YES!" I was also down on the floor hugging him and bawling my eyes out!! For JOY, of course!! I was soooo HAPPY!
We stayed there for a long time on our knees on the deck of the ship. The wind kept blowing and the light spray of water was insistent, but we just knelt there holding each other for the longest time! :)
Finally, my eyes cleared up enough for me to actually pick the ring up out of the box and look at it. It has a thin Platinum band and a 1/3 carat diamond on it. It's PERFECT. It looks exactly as I always imagined it would. I was completely flabbergasted. He took it into his own hands and slid it onto my ring finger. It fit like a glove! I'm lucky that my ring finger is the same size as his pinky finger. :) He sized it to that and the fit is amazingly right!
The picture on the home page here was was taken that night BEFORE the proposal. It was one of the best pictures they had taken of us since we had been there and oddly enough, the background is of the deck of the boat overlooking the ocean with stars and a moon out! How approriate did THAT work out?!
